What is preservation in resin?

At Wild Crystal Studio, preservation is the process of transforming meaningful flowers and personal keepsakes into custom works of art. Each piece is carefully created using museum-grade resin, resulting in a glass-like finish that protects and showcases your memories for years to come. These preserved pieces are designed to honor life’s most meaningful moments, from births to memorials, in a form that can be displayed and cherished. Over time, resin will naturally develop a soft warmth or “ambering.” This is a normal part of the aging process and contributes to the heirloom character of the piece. While this process cannot be prevented, proper care, including avoiding prolonged sunlight and heat, will help preserve clarity for as long as possible.

How long does the process take?

Resin preservation is a deliberate and time-intensive process. Most commissions are completed within 6 months. Larger orders and pieces may take longer. This timeline allows for proper drying of the botanicals, often two months on its own, followed by careful design, layering, and curing of the resin. Each piece is created slowly and intentionally to ensure it meets the standard of a lasting heirloom.

How are pieces priced?

Every Wild Crystal Studio piece is a bespoke preservation commission created specifically for you. Pricing varies depending on the size and style of the piece, the types and volume of botanicals, and the number of pieces commissioned

Smaller, more delicate florals may require less material, while larger blooms and statement pieces require more space and design consideration. Following your consultation, you will receive a detailed proposal and full pricing breakdown before any work begins.

Will my piece be perfect?

Each piece is one of a kind. It is shaped by the natural qualities of your flowers, your unique keepsakes, and the preservation process itself. Variations may occur, including subtle color shifts during botanical drying, small air bubbles, delicate texture changes, and visible layering within the resin.

These are not flaws, but rather part of what makes each piece unique and authentic. Many flowers deepen in color as they dry. Lighter blooms may develop soft, vintage tone adding to the timeless character of the final piece. Throughout the process, you will be guided with care and transparency, from initial consultation, to design approval, to final delivery, ensuring your piece reflects both your expectations and the beauty of the original moment.
